As some of you may know, last week Saturday we had our very First Annual Charity Initiative: Bloggers Care #BloggersC13 at the Khulani Children’s Shelter. With many disappointments we had to face planning this day, I was really chuffed the way everything worked out.
We spent a day with 14 kids, our aim was to show the rest of the world that ‘some’ bloggers – actually do care about the communities they live in. They are willing to help, and besides attending glamorous VIP events every week, they can actually spend a day making a few kids smile – playing games with them and making them feel loved and appreciated.
We are bloggers of change
They sang the national anthem for us, which I thought was really cute – what was even more cute is that, they prayed before they ate the stuff we had brought for them. We then toured around the the home to see their rooms etc. I must say, Khulani Shelter sure is one of the cleanest children’s home I’ve ever been to. Their beds were neatly made and I loved seeing signs like ‘study time 18h00’ this makes it clear that the people who take care of these kids know how much important discipline and education is.
Children need models more than they need critics
I am excited about our 2nd charity initiative. Thanks so much to Nadia, Shante and Fay for making this day extra special to me, the WBFL team and the kids of Khulani Shelter. We appreciate your support.
