I live in a yellow house (currently in the process of being painted grey) on Sun street. My blog is lifestyle-orientated, so The SunHouse seemed apt.
How long have you been blogging for?
I think it’s been two years now. My account has been active for five years, because I had to design a blog for one of my subjects at varsity.
What difficulties did you come across when you first started blogging?
Layout, HTML and design! Holy heck, it is one of the most difficult things to get a hang of. Luckily, there’s google and people who design blogs for a living.
What do you think new bloggers need to know about blogging that most people don’t?
You won’t be a superstar from day one. And even if you are a superstar within the first week, you need to stay modest and grounded. Your readers are the ones who put you in superstar status, so keep that in mind.
What would you say has been a highlight of your blogging career thus far?
The daily interaction with people is the best. I am a peoples person, so I love hearing from and interacting with people, all the time. Whether it’s on instagram, twitter or via comments on my blog. The people make blogging fun.
Who are your favourite bloggers?
I am a sucker for wedding photography blogs, and lifestyle (including DIY) blogs. So anything in that spectrum. I don’t want to single certain blogs out.
Which is the most read blog post on your blog and why do you think people like it?
The most read ones on my blog are ones that got their counts because of a certain picture that was used, so I don’t want to share those. Instead, I’ll share two recent favourites of mine: Read them here and here.
What else do you do besides blogging?
I am an editor. I am a wife. I am a mommy to a staffie and a Jack Russell. I am a friend. I am a sister and a daughter. I am a quiz-night contestant. I am an adventurer. I am a festival goer and a see-doer. I am not defined by blogging.
Where do you see your blog in the next two years?
Probably in exactly the same space it is now. I don’t intend on advertising on my blog ever, because that isn’t what I’m about.
Do you look at your blog as a business, hobby or as a portfolio?
Hobby. I write because I need an escape and I don’t want my husband to kill me in my sleep.
