We are really excited to announce our partnership with the big dogs at Jobvine and Hashtag Radio. Receiving an email from Joubert, the founder of Hashtag Radio… Asking if we’d love to partner with them, got me over excited. It’s great to see that people appreciate and understand what we do. I still can not believe we have been able to partner with all these well-established companies and brands.

You might have seen our social media updates regarding this new radio partnership last week, well, we will be in air for the first time tomorrow at 12pm speaking about our community, what we are all about etc. Going forward, you can catch us on the airwaves every week on Fridays 12pm – discussing everything related to blogging. To us, this is a great achievement and we can’t wait to start connecting with you guys on the airwaves, too.

I also wanted to give you guys a better understanding of Hashtag Radio, what they are all about, what is it that they are trying to achieve and how YOU can be part of it:

What is Hashtag Radio all about?
It’s more than just another online streaming radio station. It’s a social upliftment platform that act as a launchpad for entrepreneurs, SMEs, Events, Charities, DJs and upcoming artists. Our focus is to create an online community that adds value to our listeners across Africa while also engaging in conversation on various social channels – mainly Twitter.

How did you choose the presenters? Did you hold up auditions or?
Our current presenters have very different backgrounds. They vary from little previous radio experience to experience at some of the biggest radio stations in South Africa. New presenters do auditions to gather their passion and talent before they secure a slot as host or co-host.

Why the name Hashtag?
It was the obvious choice as our main objective is to promote conversation on our social channels, especially Twitter.

What did you study in University?
Bachelors degree in Information Technology at the NMMU in Port Elizabeth.

What’s next from Hashtag Radio?
We’re currently doing a feasibility studio to establish Hashtag Radio on a FM frequency in the Gauteng area while establishing our presence in other African countries online.

Why should people tune in?
Educate yourself with relevant content and stay updated with events happening in your region. Weekly give-aways include books, discount codes and event tickets.

What makes it different from other online radio stations?
Great content that educates our audience on relevant topics. The station is very informative with a good balance of music by South African artists and upcoming local DJs.

How has the response been ever since you launched?
It’s been overwhelming, and we’re grateful for everyone that’s been supporting us from the outset. I’ve added a few testimonials below of guests that we’ve invited to promote their businesses in-studio.

“Firstly I must give you some feedback – we have had a few queries from JHB based business owners all due to the interview – once again – thank you very much.” – Craig Shelly (JustAsk)

“I also wanted to say that I had a great experience being interviewed last Tuesday on your station by Sharon for my business MzansiStore. Your team was professional and great to work with. I most definitely saw an increase in supplier registrations as a result of that interview and feature on MzansiStore. Thank you !” – Deidre Luzmore (MzansiStore)

Are you looking for more presenters?
We’ve got a great team that’s pushing the boundaries with excellent content, but my door is always open to new passionate presenters that would like an opportunity to prove their worth. They can contact me at @JoubertBotha on Twitter.
