What inspired the name of your blog? The blog was created so I can touch on everyday life circumstances for a regular South African. For someone that doesn’t fall into the super-Rich or super Poor categories that the media already covers on a daily. It was really a name that I felt will cover all aspects of a regular 20 something year old without boxing them too much.
How long have you been blogging for? I have been blogging on and off for about 5 years and then when I created this blog I decided to take things a bit more seriously. It has been active now for 3 years
What difficulties did you come across when you first started blogging? Finding the time to write and finding the right content was the biggest difficulty and still is.
What do you think new bloggers need to know about blogging that most people don’t? Like everything in life it requires time and consistency. If you are not willing to put both in the work then your blog will most likely suffer.
What would you say has been a highlight of your blogging career thus far? Hmmm… I think for me being featured on SABC Morning Live was a big highlight , it was a fun experience and it was also comforting to know that my blog actually ads value to people who use it as a guide for eating out and travel.
Who are your favourite bloggers? My favourite blogger is Kia Salter of House of KTS her blog inspires me and her content is honest and adds value to its readers. She has given me a lot of blogging advice over the years. http://www.houseofkts.com/
Which is the most read blog post on your blog and why do you think people like it? Generally all my blogging advice posts have high views as a lot of people are always looking at starting their own blogs. One of the best performing posts recently is the post I did on Top 5 ways for bloggers to make money online. https://averagesouthafrican.com/2016/06/11/top-5-ways-for-bloggers-influencers-to-make-money-online/
What else do you do besides blogging? Lol *sigh I have a day job*… I work in the entertainment industry as a Digital Marketing Manager for BET, Comedy Central and Nickelodeon (FUN on Overload)
Where do you see your blog in the next two years? In the next 2 years hopefully my blog will be the go to destination for all things Food and Travel in South Africa.
Do you look at your blog as a business, hobby or as a portfolio? It plays a role in all three of those categories. I also see it as a platform for other writers to use to build up their portfolios. My blog is my space to inspire as well as learn from others.
