My name is Oyama Botha, a Public Policy and Administration Honours graduate, I also hold a Bachelor of Social Sciences Degree in Organisational Psychology, International Relations and Public Policy & Administration. I am overpoweringly proud and enormously pleased to share that I have been chosen through a very rigorous process that involved a first phase of internal selection for 1 leader from the University of Cape Town (UCT). This first phase compromised of internal applicants from UCT student leaders and only one person was selected to be nominated for the second phase of selection. I made it through the first phase and went into the second phase of selection where I competed globally. I was then selected on the second phase as 1 of 30 scholars from over 110 applications globally to represent the University of Cape Town at The Association of Commonwealth Universities Residential School. During this programme scholars will enroll in a leadership programme at the Heriot-Watt University in Malaysia.
The Association of Commonwealth Universities has partnered with Heriot-Watt University and Common Purpose to deliver a leadership programme for 30 students from member institutions on the theme of respect and understanding. A diverse group of students from all over the world will come to explore practical measures to promote tolerance and better intercultural relations at their home institutions and beyond. This weekend I will be flying to Kuala Lumpur for an experience of a life time!To God be the Glory! I really hope everyone gets to see the amazing work God is doing in my life and be inspired that through handwork and perseverance, greatness can be attained, despite your circumstances.
