The much anticipated Varsity Cricket six-day T20 tournament returned to the home of NWU in Potchefstroom from the 29th of January to the 3rd of February. The tournament culminated in a thrilling finale that saw UP Tuks claim victory with two balls to spare and beat North West University by five wickets on Saturday the 3rd of February at Senwes Park, Potchefstroom.
Proud sponsor Steers was at the forefront ensuring that spectators, players and the teams were well taken care of which was showcased through their fully fledged vending truck that supplied fresh flame-grilled meals and refreshments, as well as interactive spectator activations. The cricket carnival welcomed the new academic year as it gathered students and team supporters who came out in numbers to pack the stadium to capacity and were fuelled with excitement that took place at Senwes Park, which has staged one of South Africa’s greatest cricket shows. The sixth day of the tournament began with the annual RAG parade that commenced in the morning whereby a carnival themed setting took place to celebrate the victorious week that has passed as well as entailed two semi-final rounds until the much anticipated final game that took place.
