Mmatema Moremi’s career in singing began back in her pre-school days where she used to sing at assembly during Morning Prayer sessions, at that time she was just singing for the sake of it not knowing that one day her voice would be a blessing to many. She was introduced to the whole of South Africa when she entered Idols South Africa in 2015 for the 3rd time and left with a runner-up title.
Despite her Idols title she worked as hard as she can to stay in the industry and since then she has played a role of Thembi in SABC 2’s 2017 drama series Bone of my bones, endorsed with a best newcomer award by the Mzansi Christian Awards and has also released an album titled Love Praise Worship that was recorded at her own record label Mmatema Moremi Media Productions (Pty) Ltd. “It takes patience and persistence to run a label as you learn and grow but one experience that had to stand out is owning everything that you do” said Mmatema.
Her Love Praise Worship album features the popular and chart-topping single Ke Lerato and consists of 17 tracks of love, of dance and celebration and of worship. “It is an inspirational album that I wrote for the hearts of the people to try and bring people together in song and the message I preach mostly is love, the love that God has for all of us and that people must learn to love each other more” she said.
Mmatema made history as the first artist to have been a contestant from Idols South Africa to host a one woman show at the South African State Theatre’s 1 300 Opera Theatre as a solo artist with no opening acts and she was also the creative director of the show. Her last statement was “I believe God has blessed me with so many gifts and I would love to explore them more.”
