Still in the month of celebrating mothers, SA Bloggers spoke with a young beautiful Sithelo Shozi, who’s ranked as one of the country’s top fashion influencers, a yummy-mommy and ‘Momager’ to the most loved Baby Makhosini.
We met with Shozi at Col’Çacchio one of the friendliest restaurants in Gateway, Durban. The first thing she did before greeting, was smile. Her warmth grew us closer and made it easy for us to chat with her. Shozi, grew up in Umkomaas but now lives in Durban & recently graduated with a Political Science Degree at the University of Kwa-Zulu Natal.
Raised by her mother along with her sister, Shozi says her mother’s love has always been and is her strength.
My dad passed away when I was seven years old, and my mother raised us alone, and did the best , even took us to the best schools her money could afford.
Before we met up with Shozi she told us that she had fetched her son from school and took him out for an ice cream date as their ‘Friday ritual’ – two year old Makhosini Nhlelozikathixo Maseko, well known as ‘Baby Makhosini’ the Durban celebrity toddler with over 40 000 Instagram followers. Makhosini is also known to be a meme-king, with almost 80% memes made out of his pictures.
Shozi told us that Makhosini loves the camera and knows all the angles. No doubt Makhosini inherited his love for the camera from his mother who does justice in all her poses.
Still talking about Makhosin she said: “He’s very confident and he loves attention and knows exactly what he wants. Makhosini also loves people, I could leave him here with you to go to the ladies, and come back to find you both playing like you have known each other for ages. When I’m laying out his clothes he’ll take out a jacket or a pair of jeans he wants to wear.”
As a mother there is always something that you wish your son never experienced, and for Shozi that is Cyber bulling. She says it is the worst, and she knows this because it has happened to her.
“I was bullied and still am on social media and that is a painful experience, even though I no longer care, but it is not a nice experience being called names by people who do not even know you”
Sithelo loves to travel and Dubai is one of the places she can leave South Africa for. She also cleared the air on rumors that she has blesses who do things for her, but she makes her own money.
“I am a brand ambassador for lots of things, how I make money should not be questionable. I am a face of Beluga here in Gateway; I am managing my sons brand along with my fashion designer friend who also dresses me for all my events, I work with a make- up artist by the name Amanda, amongst many other things. I make my own money”
She quickly came back to talking about her son ‘Makhosini’, whose name means a King – expressing that she wants her son to grow and be the best. Miss Shozi said it gives her joy to mother Makhosini, because he is full of love. Speaking about role models she said hers is internationally recognised Terry Phetho. One for her close friends Siphesihle Mazankosi described Sithelo her as a wise woman with a lot to offer the world.
Sithelo is young, but wise and strong. Today I am studying and renting my own apartment because she told me every day that I must stand up for myself. I have never met a person as loving as her, she respects everyone and people love her for that.
Shozi’s advice to young people is to never let anyone dim their light or make them doubt their ability. This young and inspiring fashion-forward yummy-mommy described herself as loyal, loving and full of life.
SA Bloggers would like to wish Sithelo and the rest of our beloved mothers a happy mother’s month, this month we celebrate our queens!
