Meet Nadia Bloy, a single mom doing the most to give back. Nadia Bloy is the “go-to” girl for many of the less-fortunate or troubled folk in the Newlands region.
She gained her popularity through the various personal and professional community projects and initiatives she’s launched and been a part of since 2007.
Most of the initiatives are aimed at meeting the basic needs of less fortunate, single-parent households and single mothers diagnosed with terminal illnesses.
Nadia deems herself as a God- fearing woman who isn’t religiously bound and neither affiliated with any politic party.
“I don’t get a stipend or salary doing this nor do I receive fuel monies. I do it from the goodness of my heart and my passion to help others, is what drives me”, says the God-sent to many.
Bloy has successfully launched a community initiative called “ How can I give back to our community”. The initiative is aimed at encouraging people from the community, to do for the less fortunate within the community. The initiative has been well received and gained its success; “I have received food parcels, blankets, linen, all sizes of clothing and toiletries from the members of my community”.
Bloy also hosts abused victims who have been kicked out or who don’t have anywhere to go, overnight in her two-bedroom flat. She then refers them to police station or relevant department the next morning.
The Dalai Lama once said: “Our prime purpose in life is to help others. And if you can’t help them, at least don’t hurt them”.
It’s apparent that Nadia is a living example of fulfilling this purpose.
